An afternoon of spring tea in the garden with Kelly Jennings who'll be sharing specially sourced teas from private gardens of Mr Sun on Mt Mengding in Southern China. We'll talk about tea, it's cultivation and history, and enjoy the flavor, sense and spirit of these ancient tea bushes together.

Mr Sun
On my recent trip to the south of China, we visited Mr. Sun, a highly refined and retired art historian who was educated in Europe. Over the last five years he had discovered and restored a 200-acre monastery tea garden on Mt. Mengding, This remote location, made for quiet and intimate Daoist retreats, abounds in tea bushes that herald from the Song Dynasty (960 to 1279 AD). He is quietly building a quiet, intentional life, which especially characteristic of Chinese scholars who leave institutional careers for contemplative mountain living — a tradition with deep roots in both Taoist and literati culture.
We'll be tasting and enjoying teas that come from his cloud forest gardens.
